Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, booking is required.  Please call 07796 214154 or e-mail info@highlandseacharters.co.uk.
  • Yes, please ensure you arrive at Scrabster at least 15 minutes prior to your departure time. This will allow the boat to depart on time and make sure you get the most out of your trip, if for any reason you are going to be late please let us know.
  • Occasionally it is necessary to cancel trips. Your safety is our primary concern and if we feel weather conditions on the day are unsuitable we will cancel the sailing.

If the weather is very unsettled and, in particular, if you are travelling a long distance, we strongly recommend passengers confirm final details and weather conditions with us, close to or on your day of departure.

  • If Highland Sea Charters Ltd cancel your trip for any reason, any payment you have made will be refunded in full or, if you prefer, we will try to accommodate you on another trip.
  • If you have made a confirmed booking and then fail to appear for the trip you will be charged in full. We understand that there are sometimes genuine reasons for being unable to honour a booking, particularly if the booking is made well in advance.

If you foresee any difficulties, the sooner you let us know the better so that we are able to either re-sell the dates or accommodate you on a later trip.

  • Generally people do not tend to get sick due to the fresh air but if the sea is particularly choppy there is a chance you may.

If you know you suffer from sea sickness we would recommend you take appropriate medication in advance of your trip. In the event of an angler suffering severe sea sickness, return to the harbour will be at the discretion of our Skipper. If there is sufficient time remaining, we will endeavour to return to the fishing areas, however, Highland Sea Charters Ltd accepts no responsibility for loss of trip time due to a passenger being returned to shore for medical reasons.

  • If you are pregnant, have a back problem or other medical condition please let us know when you make your booking so we can assess your individual requirements.
  • We operate, weather permitting, from April to September.  Please contact us with your ideas and we will do our best to accommodate you.

  • Lifejackets are provided and must be worn at all times on our trips.

We also recommend you dress warmly as even during summer it can get chilly when out at sea. Waterproof clothing is highly recommended. Non-slip footwear is essential. No high heels.

  • Whilst we make every effort to accommodate a range of disabilities, the style of boat is such that a degree of agility is required. Please contact us directly and we will be happy to discuss your individual requirements in more detail.
  • Passengers are free to take cameras aboard however they do so entirely at their own risk. We would recommend that if you are intending to take a camera to protect it in a suitable waterproof pouch or camera case. A small disposable waterproof camera is probably the safest option.
  • Our sea angling trips are not suitable for young children under the age of 8. We do insist that any child between 8 and 16 years are accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • We can offer bunkhouse style bed and breakfast accommodation on board the Honestas for up to 12 anglers when tied along side.  If that's not for you please see our links page for local accommodation providers.
  • Please contact us with your thoughts and we can discuss your idea further.
